Hello there and welcome to our homepage ! We are John v/d Berg and Angelique Rutten and we are the team behind Cattery Insomnia. Our passion for cats started when we met in 1997 and our first cat moved in with us in 1998. This was a redtabby straycat that we adopted from an animalshelter. His name was Mozes. Because we didn't want Mozes to get lonely, we looked for a playmate for him. We found GIC Lion House Shamu, a spayed Blue-cream Persian (ELH) girl that we bought from a Dutch breeder who did not use her in her breedingprogram anymore. Since Shamu was a showcat, we decided to give it a try and we went to our first catshow ever... with succes ! Shamu becames BIS and we were hooked to catshows ever since. Until today we remain to be enthusiastic about catshows and breeding Persians & Exotic Shorthairs. John loves Persians and Exotics in tabby-white and Angelique is passioned about tabby and solid Exotics. Since this is a shared interest that we are both passioned about, we both have an equal say in things... We breed with US & European lines like for instance: Topcattery - Marhei - Polcann - Budmar - D'Eden Lover / Latin Lover / Kuorii - El Zaburs - Lynges - etc. We want to thank Linda Fischer (Cattery IntheWind), Frédéric Gaspard (Cattery D'Eden Lover) and Barbara Witt (Schelby Cats Cattery) and many others ( you know who we think off ! ) for their help, friendship and for trusting us with their cats. |
Hallo en welkom op onze internetpagina ! Wij zijn John van den Berg en Angelique Rutten en samen vormen wij het team van Cattery Insomnia. Onze passie voor katten ontstond toen wij ons leerden kennen in 1997 en in 1998 kwam onze eerste kat bij ons wonen. Dit was een redtabby gecastreerde kater uit een dierenasiel. Zijn naam was Mozes. |
Omdat we niet wilden dat Mozes eenzaam zou zijn, zochten we voor hem een speelkameraadje. Dit werd GIC Lion House Shamu, een gesteriliseerde blauw-crème Perzische (ELH) poes, die we kochten bij een Nederlandse fokster die haar niet meer gebruikte in haar fokprogramma. Omdat Shamu een tentoonstellingskat was geweest, werden wij nieuwsgierig hoe dat zou zijn... zo'n show. We schreven haar in en niet zonder succes.... ze werd Best in Show ! Sindsdien zijn we "verslaafd" aan tentoonstellingen. Tot heden zijn we enthousiast over showen en fokken van Perzen en Exotic Shorthairs. John houd van Perzen en Exotics in tabby met wit en Angelique is gek van effen en tabby Exotics. Omdat het een gezamelijke hobby is, zijn we allebei even gepassioneerd.
